Eb-5 Regional Centers/Eb-5 Visas

An Immediate Green Card with Eb-5 Visas:

The Eb-5 visa program was started by Congress through the Immigration Act of 1990 to bring foreign capital into the U.S. economy and to create U.S. jobs. The Eb-5 Visa Regional Centers allows aliens and their families to live in the U.S. under permanent residency status by making a monetary investment into a government-designated Regional Center program. Foreigners with the Eb-5 visa have the option to take a job, run a business, retire, or live anywhere in the United States. The fast track to a green card is through this investment visa program.

Regional Centers are federal government agencies, entities, or organizations, which are located throughout the country and whom are approved by USCIS (U.S. Citizen Immigration Services). To answer the question of what is direct investment on Eb5: the direct investment only requires contributing to one of the Regional Centers with an investment of $1,000,000. This figure can be reduced to $500,000 if the Eb 5 visa Regional Centers are located in a Target Employment Area (“TEA”), where the unemployment rate is about 150% of the national average. If the immigrant entity is a business, then that business must create at least 10 full time jobs for U.S. workers. The Regional Center programs do not require that the investors actually need to employ 10 workers; they only require that 10 or more jobs are indirectly created due to their investments.

Additional privileges of an Eb-5 direct investment visa for outside investors and their qualifying family members include freedom to live anywhere within U.S. boundaries. Investors and family members can live, work, and receive an education anywhere in this country. However, certain requirements must be met, such as outside investors must demonstrate their true intent to be a U.S. resident by establishing bank accounts, obtaining a social security number, obtaining a driver’s license, and paying taxes. Investors do not need to be in the U.S. at all times, but they must enter within 180 days of being issued a visa.

If investors are wondering how to get an Eb-5, it involves several different steps. They can apply on their own or seek the services of a top immigration law firm which helps to cut through a lot of red tape by helping investors receive the necessary applications and forms in a timely manner and to make the right decisions regarding their immigration plans, as well as representing foreign governments in aiding their citizens.
