EB-5 and the Future of Job Creation
There are two issues that are playing major roles in the political landscape at the moment. One issue is the state of the economy in the United States and what can be done to cut costs and increase revenue. Another issue that is in heavy debate is the presence of illegal immigrants entering the country and the ways in which they drain the economy or could conversely help to raise revenue through job creation and whether or not immigrants are causing rises in crime rates. EB-5 Visas affect policies laid out by Congress to address issues such as these that we are facing today.
This Visa category was created in 1990 and was meant to encourage incoming revenue into the United States and provide legal channels through which an increase in U.S. jobs could be seen for those working legally in the United States. Annually this category of Visas allows for ten thousand participants and could do a lot towards meeting the ends for which this commission was designed. This conditional green card citizenship verifies not only the holder of the visa but their spouse and children as well. EB-5 green cards are valid for 21 months and allow the card holder to live and work anywhere in the United States. Another advantage of this green card is that retirement for the investor, or card holder, is not restricted by geographic or employment conditions. Green card citizenship in the past has not been so focused on creating revenues specifically for the United States. This is another innovation in the EB-5 investor visa program.
United States immigration is certainly in need of some reform and Congress has taken a valuable step towards a more stable future for the United States with this measure. Regional centers are ensuring the success of these investments by taking pressure off of the individual immigrant to start totally over with a new business and allows them to be integrated into pre-existing structures. Such safety nets as these reduce the chances of failure for the individual and the system. This precaution eliminates the likelihood that failure will result in deportation or the need for an immigration attorney. It is not hard to imagine that programs such as the EB-5 programs will be on the forefront of job generation in the future of the United States.
